This diagnostic can be used to determine that the modem card has been
properly installed.
Modem Helper is a customer diagnostic application that can be used to test
for the presence of a Dell supported modem, and the modem's hardware and driver
installation, as well as the telephone line connection to the modem.
Modem Helper was designed to help evaluate the
condition of your Dell modem in a Dell PC. It will attempt to return the modem
to the same state, as it was when it left Dell's factory. This application also
provides information about your Dell modem.
To run the application,
Click Start, point to Programs, Modem Helper.
Click Modem Helper to open the application.

Click "Continue with Modem Helper..."
When you see the Modem Helper Wizard introduction
screen, Click "Continue with Modem Helper..."
You will see a screen with a clock while Modem
Helper checks the status of the modem. Once the modem device passes the Modem
Helper diagnostics, you will see a screen similar to this.
If Modem Helper determines that a problem exists,
follow the instructions. The Modem Helper Wizard will attempt to automatically
solve any issue it finds with limited interaction required by you..
