1. Requires drivers, supplied with MVA 1024 for selected applications.
2. 256 with optional video RAM expansion kit installed.
3. The 640 x 480 PGL mode does not fill the screen on the MultiSync Plus or XL. Refer to "PGA and PGL640 Emulation."
PGA and PGL640 Emulation
Some software compatible with the IBM PGController assumes that the maximum screen dimensions are no larger than the 640 x 480 pixel resolution of the IBM PGC. Such applications, when run on the MVA 1024 with the MultiSync Plus or XL, display in the lower-left portion of the 960 x 720 or 1024 x 768 PGL screens. The pgl640.exe program on the MVA 1024 Utilities disk allows these programs to be displayed centered on the screen, but they will remain reduced in size (62% on the XL and 66% on the Plus). The smaller size is due to the MVA 1024 using the same pixel clock for the 640 x 480 resolution PGC emulation as for the high-resolution PGL modes.
NOTE: Not all PGC programs will require this.
To use pgl640.exe, type:
PGL640 < RETURN>
at the DOS prompt after loading the PGL in 4- or 8-bit mode with the MVA Utility. The MVA 1024 installation program described above automatically copies pgl640.exe to the \ mva1024 subdirectory. The application will run as a window centered on the screen under the PGC emulation.
Type:
pglhires <RETURN>
or run the MVA Utility again to reenable the high-resolution PGL modes.
Self-Test
The MVA 1024 has a self-test that runs until either PGL or DGIS is loaded. To view the self-test press <ALT-ESC>. The diagnostic pattern consists of a continuously changing pattern of colors. Pressing <ALT-ESC> again exits the self-test and returns to the application.
