Cable Modem with USB Connection

A cable modem may support only Ethernet connection, only USB connection, or both types of connections.

Cable Modem with only USB Connection

Your Dell Wireless 2350 Broadband Router is designed to function with Ethernet connection only on its broadband interface. If your cable modem supports only a USB connection, you need to replace it with a model with at least one Ethernet connection.

Cable Modem with both USB and Ethernet Connections

If your cable modem supports both USB and Ethernet connections, but is connected to your computer via USB cable, follow the instructions below to switch to the Ethernet connection.

1.       Make sure that your cable modem is powered off.

2.       Disconnect the USB cable from your computer and the cable modem.

3.       Connect one end of a standard Ethernet cable into the Ethernet port of the Ethernet card on your computer

4.       Insert the other end of the cable into the Ethernet port on your cable modem.

5.       Turn on cable modem. The modem may need several minutes to initialize.

6.       Insert the Dell Wireless 2350 Broadband Router CD into the CD drive on the computer to start the Setup Wizard, and then click the Router Installation button and follow the onscreen instructions.
