Dell OpenManage Client Connector (OMCC) is a Microsoft® Windows® Management Instrument (WMI) application that provides a one-to-one management console for local and remote system administration. OMCC manages client systems, such as Dell Latitude, Dell Precision, and Dell OptiPlex.
Using OMCC you can perform the following tasks:
View and configure Dell OpenManage Client Instrumentation (OMCI) properties
Perform management functions, such as shutdown and remote BIOS update
Capture WMI indications and export data to a file
OMCC is supported only on Dell systems with Windows 2000 (all versions), Windows XP Pro, and Windows Server 2003 systems.
Though they share a name, OMCC versions 1.0 and 2.1 are different products that fulfill different functions. Table 1-1 provides a description for both software versions.
Table 1-1. OMCC Version Descriptions
Version
Description
OMCC 1.0
Based on Microsoft's WMI SDK
OMCC 2.1
Based on Dell's Managed Node Framework
Works in conjunction with OMCI version 7.1 or later by connecting to the root\dellomci WMI namespace
OMCI version 7.1 or later can be downloaded from the Dell Support website at support.dell.com
OMCC can also work in conjunction with Dell OpenManage IT Assistant version 7.0 or later. OMCC is an element manager for IT Assistant. IT Assistant acts as a management console by allowing system administrators to perform remote management actions on managed systems. Although OMCC works with IT Assistant, OMCC can operate as a stand-alone application.
NOTE: IT Assistant for OMCC can be downloaded from the Dell Support website at support.dell.com. You can
install IT Assistant version 7.0 or a later version and OMCC in any order.
