The Creative PC-DVD Encore Dxr2 enables you to play full-motion video with
multi-channel sounds on your personal computer or on your television. PC-DVD Encore plays
DVD movies, as well as CD formats such as audio CDs, CD-ROM software, and CD-R.
The DVD2240E DVD-ROM drive includes the following key features:
- 5.25-inch half-height size
- 2x DVD-ROM drive
- 20x CD-ROM drive
- Front-loading tray mechanism
- Three eject options, including an eject button, software option, and
an eject hole
- Average data access time of 170 milliseconds (ms) for DVD-ROM drive
and 100 ms for CD-ROM drive
- Support for a wide variety of disc formats
- Maximum data transfer rate of 2700 kilobytes per second (KB/sec)
(DVD-ROM) and 3000 KB/sec (CD-ROM)
- DVD-ROM data capacity up to 17 gigabytes (GB) (dual-layer,
double-sided) and CD-ROM data capacity up to 748 megabytes (MB) (mode 2)
- Regional code embedded in DVD-ROM software
The internal Dxr2 decoder card includes the following key features:
- DynamicXtended Resolution (Dxr2) picture enhancement technology
- Back-panel connectors for (RCA) jack Sony/Phillips Digital Interface
(S/PDIF) out, video graphics array (VGA) output, VGA input, S-Video, and composite video
output
- Support for resolution up to 1280 x 1024 full screen
- Support for DVD 1.0, Moving Pictures Experts Group (MPEG)-2 and
MPEG-1 video
- TV output support for National Television Standards Committee (NTSC),
programmable array logic (PAL), and composite and S-video signals
- Support for Dolby� digital (AC-3) 5.1 channel playback
This DVD-ROM drive should be used only in its current hardware and software
configuration.

Disc tray |
Is a motorized loading system on which
DVDs or CDs are placed. To eject the tray, press the Eject button. |

Stereo phone jack |
Connects headphones or powered speakers. |

Volume control |
Adjusts the volume of headphones or
powered speakers connected to the front panel stereo phone jack. This control does not
affect the audio from devices (such as speakers) connected to your audio card. |

Busy indicator |
Lights up whenever the drive is reading
data from a disc. |
| 5 |
Eject hole |
Can be used to eject the disc tray. Turn
off the power to your computer. Insert and push a straightened paper clip into the eject
hole. Pull the ejected tray out gently. Avoid using excessive force to pull out the tray
as this may damage your drive. |

Eject button |
Ejects or closes the disc tray. To eject
the disc tray, exit an application accessing the PC-DVD drive before you press the button. |
