Overview

Thank you for your recent purchase.The Dell® PC which you are using either already contains a Promise Technology® FastTrak100 RAID card installed by Dell or you have acquired a FastTrak100 Upgrade Kit from Dell for your existing Dell PC and will be installing the card yourself.

For Dell PCs with a Dell-installed Promise Technology® FastTrak100 card, consult the Troubleshooting section of the manual if you are experiencing any difficulties with the hard drive being recognized by the card. If your operating system has crashed for some reason or you have received updated drivers from Dell, you may be required to install software drivers for the FastTrak100 card. Use the Installing Drivers section.

For Dell PC owners wishing to install their Promise Technology® FastTrak100 Upgrade Kit from Dell, proceed to the Setup section, then continue with the Installing Drivers section.


Performance Features

The FastTrak100 controller card has the following features:

  • Transfer rates up to 100MB/sec
  • Up to 133MB/sec burst transfer rates (through PCI bus)
  • Doubles sustained data transfers of attached drives under RAID 0 striping
  • Places identical data on to two drives on every save operation for data redundancy protection under RAID 1 mirroring
  • Maintains data storage and PC operation in case one drive fails under RAID 1 mirroring
  • CRC checking with Ultra ATA hard drives
  • Dual independent channel PCI IDE bus master RAID controller
  • PCI "Plug & Play" compatibility
  • Coexists with IDE and SCSI controllers
  • Onboard BIOS with LBA translation and Extended Int 13 support
  • BIOS includes FastBuild automatic setup utility to configure RAID array
  • Supports ATA hard drives up to 128GB
  • Flashable BIOS allows easy upgrades
  • FastCheck GUI continually monitors array status, controls data maintenance operations (RAID 1) and drive rebuilds (RAID 1)
