Memory Installation

The 3 DIMM sockets can accommodate from 32 to 384 MB of non-ECC RAM.

Supported DIMM sizes are as follows:

  • 32 MB (non-ECC)
  • 64 MB (non-ECC)
  • 128 MB (non-ECC)
NOTE: You can mix DIMM sizes and install them in any order in the memory banks, leaving a bank unoccupied if necessary. It is recommended that you fill the sockets in order starting with Bank 0, but it is not a requirement.

Only non-ECC, 100-MHz DIMMs are supported. Non-ECC DIMMs have eight memory chips on the module.

DIMM Sticker

Every 100-MHz DIMM has a sticker that identifies the manufacturer and provides specifications in the following format:

x = Frequency (MHz)
a
= CAS latency
b
= tRP
c = tRCD
d
= tSAC
e
= SPD revision
f
= tTBD
R
= Registered DIMM

For example, a DIMM with the mark PC100-222-620R specifies a registered 100-MHz module that conforms with SPD version 1.2 and has two clocks, a tRP and tRCD of two, and a tSAC of 6 ns.
