Removing the Coin-Cell Battery

CAUTION: Before you perform any of the procedures in this section, follow the safety instructions in the Product Information Guide.
NOTICE: To avoid electrostatic discharge, ground yourself by using a wrist grounding strap or by periodically touching an unpainted metal surface, such as the back panel on the computer.
  1. Follow the procedures in Before Working Inside Your Computer.

  2. Loosen the captive screw securing the memory module/coin-cell battery cover, then remove the cover and set it aside.

  1. Insert a plastic scribe into the guide on the side of the coin-cell battery compartment, and then ease the battery out of the compartment.

Replacing the Coin-Cell Battery

CAUTION: Before you perform any of the procedures in this section, follow the safety instructions in the Product Information Guide.
NOTICE: To avoid electrostatic discharge, ground yourself by using a wrist grounding strap or by periodically touching an unpainted metal surface, such as the back panel on the computer.
  1. Insert the battery at a 30-degree angle under the clip with the positive (+) side up, and then push the battery into place.

  2. Replace the memory module/coin-cell battery cover and tighten the screw.
