  Removing the Palm Rest



Removing the Palm Rest

CAUTION: Before performing the following procedures, read the safety instructions in your Product Information Guide.
NOTICE: To avoid electrostatic discharge, ground yourself by using a wrist grounding strap or by periodically touching an unpainted metal surface (such as the back panel) on the computer.
  1. Follow the instructions in "Preparing to Work Inside the Computer."

  2. Remove the center control cover.

  3. Remove the display assembly.

  4. Remove the keyboard.

  5. Turn the computer over and remove the 13 M2.5 x 8-mm screws from the computer base.

  1. Turn the computer over top side up and remove the four M2.5 x 5-mm screws marked with a P from the top of the palm rest.

  1. Disconnect the system board connector from the system board.

  2. Disconnect the touch pad connector from the system board.

NOTICE: Carefully separate the palm rest from the computer base to avoid damage to the palm rest.
  1. Use your fingers to separate the palm rest from the computer base.

  2. Lift the palm rest up, pulling apart the snaps on the base.

When replacing the palm rest, follow the steps in reverse order.
