The I/O card provides DC-in, USB, audio, and IEEE 1394 connectors for the system.
Removing an E5400 I/O Card
Follow the procedures in Before Working on Your Computer .
Remove the bottom of the base assembly (see Removing the E5400
Bottom of the Base Assembly ).
Remove the hard drive (see Removing the Hard Drive ).
Remove the WLAN card (see Removing a WLAN Card ).
Remove the fan (see Removing the Fan ).
Remove the processor heat sink (see Processor Heat Sink ).
Remove the hinge cover (see Removing the Hinge Cover ).
Remove the keyboard (see Removing the Keyboard ).
Remove the display assembly (see Removing the E5400 Display
Assembly ).
Remove the optical drive (see Removing the Optical Drive ).
Remove the palm rest (see Removing the E5400 Palm Rest ).
Remove the coin cell battery connector (refer to Removing the Coin-Cell
Battery).
Remove the system board (see Removing the E5400 System Board
Assembly ).
Remove the M2.5 x 5-mm screw that secures the I/O card to the system
board.
Remove the I/O card from the computer.

NOTE: This procedure assumes that you have completed the removal procedure first.
Insert the I/O card and replace the M2.5 x 5-mm screw.
Replace the system board (see Replacing the E5400 System Board
Assembly )
Replace the palm rest (see Replacing the E5400 Palm Rest ).
Replace the optical drive (see Replacing the Optical Drive ).
Replace the display assembly (see Replacing the E5400 Display Assembly ).
Replace the keyboard (see Replacing the Keyboard ).
Replace the hinge cover (see Replacing the Hinge Cover ).
Replace the processor heat sink (see Replacing the Processor Heat Sink ).
