NOTE: Memory modules (80-ns modules) from previous Latitude models cannot be used on Latitude CP and CPi computers.

 Memory Installation Guidelines

  • Standard memory is one 32-MB memory module (CP) or one 64-MB memory module (CPi). No memory is installed on the system board.
  • Memory can be increased to 128 MB for the Latitude CP and 256 MB for the Latitude CPi by installing combinations of 16-, 32-, 64-, and 128-MB 3.3-V EDO SODIMM memory modules.
NOTE: 128-MB SODIMM memory modules are used only in the Latitude CPi with CPi BIOS A03 or higher.

Valid Memory Configuration

For more information about memory configurations, search on "memory modules" in the online System User's Guide.

Removing and Installing Memory

  1. Turn off the computer and turn it upside down.
  2. Disconnect the computer and peripherals from AC power, and disconnect any telephone or telecommunication line from the computer.
  3. Remove the battery from the battery compartment or the modular bay.
  4. Remove the memory module cover by lifting up on the indentation in the edge of the cover and then sliding the cover toward the edge of the computer.
  5. Remove the memory module by gently pushing outward on each of the 2 memory-module retaining clips. The memory module should rotate upward out of its retaining clips.
  6. Lift the memory module out of its socket.
  7. To install a module, place the bottom of the module in the connector, between the 2 retainer clips. Rotate the module away from you toward the main board until you hear the clips snap shut around the top of the module.
