NOTE: If you are
using the Microsoft� Windows NT� 4.0 operating system,
you must use the System Setup program to customize the
configuration of your system. First, close all open
application programs. Then, to open the System Setup
program, press <Fn><F1> (or <Scroll
Lock><F1> if the External Hot Key option is
enabled). |
Options in the Security window
correspond to the Boot Sequence, Primary
Password, and Admin Password options in the System Setup program.
To set an administrator password, click Admin. Options in the
Security window to open the Administrator Options window. Options in the Administrator Options window correspond
to the Asset
Tag and Admin Password options in the System Setup program.

Changes to the Security window options take
effect immediately.
The options in the Speaker window
correspond to the Audio Mode and Click Volume options in the System Setup
program.
Changes to the Speaker window options take
effect immediately.
Changes to the Display window
options take effect immediately.
Options in the Power Saver window
correspond to the options under the AC and Battery categories in the System Setup
program: Display
Time-Out, Disk Time-Out, Suspend
Time-Out, S2D Time-Out, Smart CPU Mode, and Brightness.

NOTE: Some
communications software may not perform correctly with
Smart CPU Mode enabled. Dell recommends that you set Smart
CPU Mode to Disabled if you are using communications
software. |
Changes to the Power Saver window options take
effect immediately.
The options in the Devices window
correspond to the Serial Port, Parallel Mode, Pointing Device, and Infrared Mode options in the System Setup program.
Changes to the Devices window options take
effect when you reboot the computer.
The System Information window displays configuration information about various
hardware and software features of the computer.
Options in the System Information window
correspond to the following options displayed in the lower-right
corner of each screen of the System Setup program: Microprocessor, System Memory, Video Memory, Service
Tag, and Asset Tag. The options in the System Information window also
correspond to the Internal Hard Drive, Diskette Drive
A, and BIOS Version options in the System Setup program.
Options in the Wakeup window
correspond to the Ring/Event Resume and Alarm Resume options in the
System Setup program.
Changes to the Wakeup window options take
effect immediately.
