Digital Array Microphone

Dell™ XPS One™ Service Manual

Image of Digital Array Microphones and camera.

The <%=strDisplayName%> system comes with a digital array microphone built into the top of the LCD bezel. This microphone is an individual component that may be replaced if it fails. Systems purchased with the built-in webcam also have this microphone. If the microphone fails on one of these systems, both the camera and microphone are replaced as a kit.

The array microphones will work without any special enhancements or drivers, just as would a standard microphone. To get the full funcitonality out of the array microphones, you need to configure this through additional software that is designed to use this functionality. This will allow sound to be recorded in a three-dimensional fashion.

Enabling the Digital Array Microphone

The microphone setting should be Digital Mic (Realtek High Definition Audio). If the digital array microphone on the webcam is not functioning when you try to use it verify if the microphone is set correctly in the Dell Webcam Center software.

If the microphone is not functioning ensure that the Digital Mic (Realtek High Definition Audio) has a check beside it.
